Academic Advisor

Landmark College seeks individuals to join our dedicated team of academic advisors and support professionals. The Landmark College Academic Advisor is a full-time, on-campus staff member who provides developmental, academic, and career advising, executive function coaching, and regular academic support to a roster of students throughout the calendar year. Advisors are expected to become well versed in the Landmark College curriculum and support student progress in identifying strengths and challenges, self-advocating, setting short-term and long-term goals, formulating study skills and strategies, selecting courses and planning a degree path. Advisors are required to maintain records and monitor student academic progress.

The qualified candidate will have a strong understanding of learning differences, including the research basis for understanding specific learning disabilities and attention disorders, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of the developmental and instructional challenges of working with students with learning differences. A familiarity with higher education career services support is preferred. Familiarity with formal approaches such as life coaching, motivational interviewing, or appreciative inquiry is preferred. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, strong organizational skills and proficiency/comfort working with online communication tools is required. Understanding or FERPA, ADA law, and other laws/regulations that pertain to working with college students is expected. The position requires regular interaction with faculty, staff, students, and parents. Must have the ability to represent Landmark College professionally in all interactions. The ability to responsibly handle confidential/sensitive information is critical. This is a salaried and exempt position that requires a willingness to occasionally work weekends and after-hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master's degree in a related field, knowledge of theoretical information on advising and advising students with LD/ADHD and ASD, and student development is preferred. A bachelor's degree in a related field with commensurate experience considered. Experience working with students as an advisor, coach, or academic support provider at the college level is preferred.
