Landmark Baseball Team Takes Double-Header to Move Win Streak to Five

It was another great Sunday for Landmark College's baseball team as they added two more wins to their record. They defeated McGills 12 -2 during the first game of the day and defeated Brattleboro 7 – 1 during game two.

The best way to sum up both games was superb pitching. Chris Hawkins pitched a complete game against McGills.  He held them at bay with his fastball and froze many opponents with his nasty curl ball. The Sharks scored one run during the first inning to take an early lead but then their bats cooled off for a few innings.  Trailing 2 – 1 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Landmark bats began to heat up. Will Kelley hit a double to drive in two runs and start the rally that put the Sharks in the lead for the remainder of the game.

Patrick McKenna pitched game two, hoping to follow in the footsteps of Hawkins' performance, and he didn’t disappoint the fans. McKenna pitched a complete game, allowing only one run. Patrick Hamel found his groove on the field and at the plate with a walk, a double and a single, with two RBIs.

While pitching was excellent in both games, the defense was just as impressive. Tim Martin deserves credit for his exceptional work behind the plate, catching for both games, and even blocking several sinking curveballs. Great job Sharks, who are now 5 – 0 on the season.
