Landmark College and HollyRod Foundation Award New Full-Tuition Scholarship
Landmark College and the HollyRod Foundation have awarded a new full-tuition scholarship to an incoming Fall 2023 student, covering tuition through graduation for a first-year or transfer student with autism who is pursuing a degree at Landmark College.
This is third Landmark College-HollyRod Foundation Scholarship that has been awarded since creation of the scholarship in 2018.
“Landmark College has intentionally designed programs to help neurodiverse individuals utilize their strengths, and has always offered a dedicated college model – with a residential program in Vermont, a Success Center in California, and a growing array of web-based offerings through LC Online - to students with learning difficulties such as autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and executive function challenges,” said Dr. Peter Eden, president of Landmark College. “Given the shared missions of LC and the HollyRod Foundation, it makes sense for us to expand our scholarship options in order to improve access to our unique educational model for promising college students with autism.”
Landmark College, one of only two institutions of higher education in the country dedicated to teaching students who learn differently, offers a unique educational model and program engineered exclusively for neurodiverse college students, including college-ready students on the autism spectrum. The College has been providing students with the skills and strategies they need to achieve their goals since its founding in 1985.
The HollyRod Foundation was founded by actor and activist Holly Robinson Peete and her husband, former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete, to support families affected by autism or Parkinson’s disease. In addition to public awareness campaigns and philanthropic efforts, the foundation has established RJ’s Place, which provides educational and other resources for children diagnosed with autism and their families. Landmark College honored Robinson Peete with the College’s LD Luminary Award in 2016, recognizing her efforts to raise awareness of neurodiversity.
“The HollyRod Foundation is proud to align with Landmark College, which for three decades has been offering educational opportunities for neurodiverse college students, including those on the autism spectrum,” said Holly Robinson Peete when the scholarship was created. “Rodney and I, on behalf of the Foundation, fully support efforts to expand resources for young people with autism, including higher education opportunities, and Landmark College is a recognized leader in this regard.”
In order to be eligible for the LC-HollyRod Foundation Scholarship, students must be accepted and admitted as a full-time student to Landmark College; possess demonstrated need as determined by the Free Application to Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); and have a diagnosis of autism as determined by a qualified physician or psychologist.
