Travel and Campus Visitors

Student Visitors to Campus

The College is required to limit all visitors to campus. Until further notice, students may not have any visitors come to campus (including families). Students should also not plan to meet any visitors or families off campus who are coming from outside of Vermont.

Student Travel Off-Campus

Updated 2/15/2021: Travel Allowed in the local Putney and Brattleboro area only.

  1. Any location within Putney (except private residences).
  2. Grocery shopping at Hannaford’s on Putney Road in Brattleboro (896 Putney Rd #5, Brattleboro, VT 05301).
  3. Food from drive-through restaurants, restaurants with curbside pick-up/to-go ordering. No indoor dining in restaurants is permitted.
  4. Walgreen’s Pharmacy on Putney Road (896 Putney Rd Suite 25, Brattleboro, VT 05301).
  5. Any outdoor recreation area in Putney or Brattleboro. Outdoor recreation areas include parks, hiking trails, etc.
  6. When riding in a personal vehicle, you can only travel with two other occupants from your own Residence Hall, while wearing masks and keeping the windows partially open for ventilation.
  7. Any time students are off-campus, they must avoid engaging in any activity that would increase the risk of COVID-19 exposure (such as failing to maintain 6-foot physical distancing, not wearing a mask, attending large gatherings or crowds, etc.). Students should also not plan to meet any visitors or families off campus who are coming from outside of Vermont.

Exceptions will only be permitted under emergency circumstances (e.g., a medical emergency or the death of a close family member) and only with prior authorization by Student Affairs. Students must understand that even if approved by the College, travel beyond the areas noted above or outside of Vermont may require them to follow the College’s quarantine and other health and safety requirements upon their return to Vermont.

Contactless Drop Off of Items

Family members who need to bring items to campus for students may drop items off at the Campus Safety Office in the lower level of Davis Hall using the following process:

  • Drop-off hours are from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. 7 days a week.
  • Family members coming to campus should call Campus Safety at 802-387-6899 at least 3 hours before their anticipated arrival time.
  • Upon arrival to campus, family members should please let Campus Safety know with another call.
  • Family members may enter the Campus by Perseverance Drive and follow it past Davis Hall. Take two right turns to reach the small parking area in front of Campus Safety.
  • Family members can drop off items outside of the Campus Safety Office in Davis Hall. Please wait outside the Campus Safety Office door. You will not be able to enter the office, but a Campus Safety staff member will come out to take the items.
  • Campus Safety will notify students when items have been dropped off.

No more than two family members may come to campus, but only one may go up to the Campus Safety Office.

Please remember to wear a mask at all times and maintain social distancing for all individuals while on campus. Family members should not come to campus if they are experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms or have been in contact with anyone with COVID-19 in the last 21 days. Family members are also required to follow Vermont’s Cross-State Travel requirements.

    1. Personal Travel: The State of Vermont has suspended its leisure travel map and implemented a mandatory quarantine for anyone returning or traveling to Vermont. See this web page for more information on leisure and essential travel guidelines. Any plans regarding cross-state travel, or travel to quarantine counties, should be directed to your supervisor. Any further questions can be directed to the CIRT through [email protected].
    2. Event Request: All upcoming events, both on and off campus; all college-related travel; and all nonessential visits to campus must be submitted for review and approval directly to the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) by using the Campus Event, Visit, or Off-Campus Trip Approval form. This may include, but is not limited to, visits to campus by prospective students, families, alumni, consultants, and vendors; off-campus conferences; and student trips.
