Summer 2021 FAQ

Students will receive a Day Zero and Day 7 test to confirm they are cleared for campus activities, so no proof of advance testing is required.

When students arrive on campus, they will be in room quarantine until a negative Day Zero COVID-19 test result is returned. At that time, students will be on campus quarantine until their Day 7 COVID-19 test is returned with a negative result. After that time, students will no longer be required to quarantine.

According to state of Vermont guidelines, individuals who have been fully vaccinated for 14 days or longer does not need to quarantine upon entering the state of Vermont. Those traveling to the state who have not been fully vaccinated for 14 days or longer will need to quarantine.

In order to maximize the safety of our students and entire Landmark College community, all students will be required to arrive on campus on the arrival date and will be on room quarantine until a negative Day Zero test is returned, and on campus quarantine until a negative Day 7 test is returned. Earlier quarantine arrangements with family will not negate this process.

Landmark College is not at this time a distribution point for vaccines. While that might change before summer programs begin, students should not plan on receiving a vaccination on campus.

A student will be on room quarantine until their Day Zero COVID-19 test has a negative result. This typically takes 24-36 hours and means students will be confined to their rooms. During room quarantine, meals will be delivered to students.

After this time, they will be on campus quarantine until Day 7 tests are returned negative; this means they can move about upper campus only. Once the entire quarantine period has ended, students can move about the entire campus as long as they are following all safety protocols (masking, distancing, hygiene).

Yes, students are able to eat meals in the dining hall as long as they observe distancing and masking. Students also have the option of take-out dining.

The cost will be the same for each program. The extra week is an added value for students and an added precaution to maximize safety.

All requests for single rooms will be considered; however, Landmark College cannot guarantee single room accommodations.

All students are required to submit a daily symptom check, as mandated by the state of Vermont. Students with symptoms will be isolated and restricted from campus activities. The College is enforcing all possible safety measures within its control in order to maximize health and safety on campus.

Landmark College will be providing a schedule of shuttle services for arriving students. More information and a schedule will be released soon.

All activities on campus adhere to COVID-19 safety guidelines, whether outdoors or indoors. We will use outdoor spaces as much as possible for classrooms and extracurricular activities such as fire pits, field games, glow in the dark dodgeball, hiking, Frisbee golf, and more. Indoor activities require all individuals to follow safety protocols such as masking and distancing.

The College is in contact with the state of Vermont regularly to monitor changes to state guidelines. We will provide regular updates to families as soon as guidelines have been modified.

All students, regardless of vaccination status, will take part in Welcome Week. While the state of Vermont has loosened restrictions for individuals who have been vaccinated, Landmark College is committed to ensuring the safety of all who attend and work in its summer programs. Day Zero testing will be conducted at the start of Welcome Week for all incoming students, and Day 7 testing will be conducted one week later.

During the room quarantine phase, approximately 24 hours, students will have their meals delivered to their door. We’ll be hosting a number of online programs during this period (ice breakers, games, creative programs), as well as check-ins with the Residential Life team.

Once we are in receipt of the COVID-19 tests administered upon arrival, students will removed from room quarantine and placed in campus quarantine. During this phase–slated to begin as soon as tests are received–students will be permitted (encouraged!) to leave their room and join on-campus orientation and social programs.

Once a student moves into campus quarantine they will no longer receive meals at the door. They will have the ability to get their meals to go from the dining hall and eat outdoors.

When you arrive on campus (more details in early June!), you’ll have an opportunity to accompany your student through the registration process on lower campus. This will take approximately 30-45 minutes. Then you’ll be invited to drive onto upper campus and support the unpacking process from the outside of the residence hall.

Per current state of Vermont guidelines, the move-in process is required to be “contactless”, meaning only residents of a hall are permitted inside of the building. You’ll have a dedicated time slot to unpack the car and assist with loading things onto a dolly (if needed); we’ll also have a dedicated “call lot” where families can call or video chat with their student to provide some additional unpacking guidance where helpful.

We appreciate that this is a big transition, and as part of our COVID accommodations we will be providing some extra support, including videos and written guidance, on how to prepare for the unpacking process. This will accompany virtual support from the residential life team upon arrival as well.
